Bermuda High

Understanding the importance of the ridge in the Atlantic and the potential impact for a landfalling system I am directing this question to the Mets or anyone that can provide some input.
What factors affect the fluid dynamics of the atmosphere causing the strength and weaknesses we see develop in these quasi stationary high pressure systems? Some of the Storms we see move through the mid west and northern Atlantic are very dynamic. I'm wondering how these systems interact with each other.
