The main board is way too crowded right now, so I though I'd bring this question over here... When looking at the sat loop posed by Teal (which, by the way, is gorgeous!), it appears to me that, as Frances' eye shrinks, she wobbles north. Likewise, as the eye widens, she moves west again. Is there a general rule that applies here, or is what I'm seeing just coincidence? Here's the sat loop: http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/~rickk/frances.html Thanks! Allison |

It's likely more coincidence than anything, but that field is one that is understudied. Until this year, no one really recognized the necessity to better understand these eyewall cycles. Isabel last year and Charley and Frances this year are changing things, however. So, I can't tell you definitively as to whether it's a pattern or if it's coincidence, but I would tend towards the latter. |
