Tropical Depression Nine Forms in Atlantic

It was worse to the north. Some storm cells from Orange and Highlands county converged between Osceola and Polk counties and produced over 6000 strikes in the space of an hour, probably closer to 7. Crazy stuff, just missed the worst of it here in Orlando.

edit: 34 thousand? OK, maybe not worse, this storm petered out after 3 hours or so.

We had approx 6000 strikes in Orange County in an hour tonight around 7 pm, as the storm came through here to converge south with couple of storms over Polk & Osceola counties the local mets say about 15-17,000 strikes, downburst damage about 7:20 pm in W Orange County, quarter size hail, still storming in some areas few hundred miles south of here! I haven't seen a lightshow like that since Hurricane came over my house last year, popping transformers for 3 hours!
