By NO/Baton Rouge radar at 12:02 CDT it appears that the NW edge of a rather lager, elliptical eyewall is right at the mouth of the Mississippi River.

Issac is huge , we still have heavy rain training in off and on from the south south west here in Brevard County.

I am enjoying watching the Bourbon Street Cam that can be found on the main page. There are a few wild folks out there. The initial bands have begun to close in on them and wish the best for all involved.

Another thing I've seen on various places.

That 'map' you see of LA on the floaters?

Half of that thanx to Katrina/Canals is no longer there.

Saying Isaac has made landfall is to give land characteristics
to a Channel Marker.

NO is on the GOM now.

With 80 miles of below sea level to go
to get near it.

8 mph and slowing that's 10 + more hours.

Isaac and its remnants will produce a lot of rain for the Mississippi and Ohio valleys over the next week. Drought stricken areas west of the Mississippi will get some relief from this, but the heaviest rainfall will be along and east of the river, so there will more than likely be some heavy flooding in the short term.
