Has the NHC looked at or said anything about the disturbance in the NW Caribb ?? Any thoughts about if it will develop, strengthen and hit Rick (and me !) in Mobile or is everyone too wrapped up in Fabian to notice or care

the reason no one is freaking out about it is because this happens from time to time (clouds and rain pop up like its trying to form something) and it just disappears if its still their tomorrow then you will see alot of people panic because this would allow Fabian to posible get into the gulf where the temp is much high then the Atlantic ocean thus it will be a cat 5 and maybe the biggest storm in history.

They mentioned it in the TWOAT this morning (its in that news ticker going across the top of your screen). And they have a recon flight scheduled for tomorrow. So I would say they are paying attention. There just isn't anything there yet.

Thanks again...oh and St. David, I dont think your lil scenario of Fabian getting into the gulf and being the biggest storm in history is goin to pan out.

NHC cracks me up. They change the heading to WNW, when if anything, over the last 6 hours, it's moved less north that it has been. That said, it is moving WNW now but their course headings confuse me to no end.

Here is what I mean.........

18.2N at 5PM yesterday
18.5N at 11PM last night, still moving west
18.6 at 5AM this morning, W10
18.9 at 11AM this morning, W12
19.1 at 5PM this evening, WNW12

Now, the twelve hour readings were......

11AM-11PM yesterday, 0.4N, 1.6W
5PM-5AM last night, 0.4N, 1.8W
11PM-11AM this morning, 0.4N, 2.0W
5AM-5PM today, 0.5N, 2.0W

Now there's basically the same northward movement, and it's considerably more west than north. It's basically moving WWWNW, hardly a reason to change the heading to WNW. I guess they consider 285 WNW when it's hardly. 295-300 is a true WNW. Don't get fooled yet. Faboan has not made any turn whatsoever IMO.

Bob, I see nothing right now that interests me about the Caribbean. It's nothing more than a blow up of convection, which undoubtedly needs to be watched. However, at this point, I see nothing that leads me to believe a TD is forming in the next 24 hours.
