New invest in Pacific
      #14983 - Sat Jun 05 2004 06:15 PM

Note that there is now a new invest in the East Pacific - this one seems to have gotten better organised over the past 24 hrs, so perhaps it has a shot at development. Didn't Joe B. say that he expected this system to develop into Blas - and therefore allow for some possible development in the GOM around the 10th? Perhaps something to watch.

That post probably belongs in the "other storm basin" forum, but to answer your question: No. Joe B's storm faded away under very unfavourable conditions (had to spell it the british way). This new invest is just that, new. If it does develop into Blas, it was not from anything Joe saw.

BTW, he's been on the road for the past few days, so he hasn't really been able to post much. Nothing today, nothing Thursday, and just a brief post yesterday.

I'll keep everyone updated when he comes out with something new.

Just noticed that NRL has put a tropical cyclone formation alert on this system. Also, the Tropical Weather Outlook says that:-

UPPER-LEVEL WINDS HAVE BECOME A LITTLE MORE
FAVORABLE AND A TROPICAL DEPRESSION COULD FORM DURING THE NEXT DAY
OR SO AS THE DISTURBANCE MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 5 TO 10 MPH.

Maybe it will develop into Blas. We''ll see...

P.S. - Phil, thanks for offering to keep us up to date with Joe B.'s forecasts. Much appreciated.

If you look at the north-west edge of the storm, there seems to be a circulation centre. Maybe this system will be ugraded at the next advisories.
