Frances' Impact on Alabama
      #23249 - Thu Sep 02 2004 06:25 PM

I live in Auburn, Alabama. In 1995, Opal came through here and caused major damage (lots of trees downed, roofs messed up, tornadoes spawned, etc), exactly 20 years after Eloise did the same thing. Being 4 hours from shore, we don't normally get much hurricane activity, apart from buches of rain. I'm wondering a) what factors would make a hurricane come all this way inland (like following rivers, coming from the Gulf, etc), and b) is Frances likely to do the same? Thanks so much!
