Still think it will start going more west again. I don't think this is the turn.

Newbie here. I have some casual observations about the weather in Central FL today. I noticed the low level clouds were trending E to W while the mid and upper level clouds were trending W to E. I usual notice this trend when the Bermuda high is retreating E from FL. As I am an untrained storm watcher and my opinion is pretty low on the reliability scale, I am in agreement with Tiki from the previous thread in believing Ivan will make his mark slightly N of Tampa.

So far, from what I can tell, it's a rumor. I think the city is going to discuss it tomorrow, but I don't think any evacuations have been recommended yet. I don't think NO is all that likely--not impossible, but not likely, we'll see.

Yeah, I just saw the forecast track....Florida's still in it. ????

NW Movement/Non-Movement: we'll know in a couple of more hours what the movement is, won't we?

Or maybe Jason could tell us if it's going WNW or NW and save us all a doggone headache. (Do you accept quarters, Jason? ....)

At 60 hours, the new GFS takes the ULL over Memphis, and moves it to Pa., with a trough through the S.E. U.S. It also maintains strong high pressure over the east, which reminds me a bit of Isabel, as we had gale force winds in the Mid Atlantic for an extended period of time with it. It looks to have shifted its track to the right, which it has been too far right all along with this.

I didn't say you did, was really curious about that. The human mind is a curious thing . Anyway, Gary Gray is predicting a landfall around Biloxi, but ofcourse he is not very confident

sounding about it. Link to his latest report below

They of course would never do anything to harm the public, but they are very much affiliated with the Disney Corporation and its interests, so they are doing what my own boss is doing, working until they can't. We can't afford to chase away the dollars from the Mouse ears land until they have to evacuate to a near by hotel with all the amenities.

That's some pretty amazing observations from an un-trained weather spotter person. The Bremuda high is retreating, that's true and what you're seeing is a side effect of the retreat, wind shear. But right now the Bremuda high isn't really effecting it as so much as the trough digging down from the mid-west. This year hurricanes aren't being handed off from upper air feature to the other, so until we see this it isn't going to happen in our forecasts. Take my anwser for what it's worth, keep in mind I am no met just a student.

Jason, can you please proof your replies BEFORE you post them? Thanks.

WISHCASTING [Re: Frank P]
      #26050 - Sun Sep 12 2004 06:10 PM

Is this just a coincidence or is it possible that just when someone thinks a 'cane is headed their way and someone sees movement that would move it OUT of their way, they call it "wishcasting"?
I'm really sick of this. Who the heck would "WISHCAST" a freaking CAT 5 storm their way? I've been through 2, and I certainly don't want to go through another one...so I'm not wishcasting anything.

Save those quarters and give them to the American Red Cross...they are going to need them.
