Frank, we are in Pascagoula and took our plywood down yesterday but just set it to the side. No way am I putting it all up only to have to take it down again!

I hear you Kissy, I'm in the process of building real storm shutters, with 9 of 15 windows complete... they are SO much nicer than dealing with plywood... and you just have to open them up in lieu of "taking them down".... I'll probably take down the plywood this evening.... since it is only involves 5 windows and open up the shutters as well ... I just can't image another threat in the next two weeks... geesh...

Kissy, did you get the feeling that the coast was NOT very well prepared for Dennis... I sure did... if it would have hit the MS coast as a Cat 4 it would have been really bad.... our counties were not nearly as prepared as we were for Ivan, this could have been a catastrophic event for the MS coast if he would have hit between Bay St Louis and Pascagoula as a cat 4 or stong 3... we were really lucky... just like with Ivan... wonder when our luck will run out.???

Back to Emily..
A storm of her size will be much more susceptible to explosive deepening… I wonder if Dennis can keep his record? I suppose the smaller size could also prove advantageous when dodging landmass.

yeah, and if she takes a similar path to Dennis how much, if any, upwelling has occurred from Dennis and its potential to limit the overall intensification process of Emily...

South Florida would be as good a place as any right now... Just keep that B!%@& out of the GOM by all means.. I think the east coast is just about due for one now... GOM needs a break...

Edit: Guys, can we please put an end to the wild guessing on a US landfall when this storm is over a week away and only a tropical depression? I understand we all need to decompress after Dennis, but this isn't the way to do it. People who were spared by that storm may not be by this storm, and it'd be nice to be respectful of that as we move along this week. Thanks. --Clark

Oh come on! I'm not ready to board up again yet. We spent weeks boarded up off and on last year (luckily were only hit by Frances and Jeanne). I'm going to start today looking into hurricane shutters so we can quit messing around with manual boarding up. The way it's going, that'll be a good investment. I think I'll look into that right now!

Trin, thats so noble of you... and you can have her ..... early models look like it could be either an east coast or GOM... but if the models come to fruition the GOM might be the better bet... that sucks too... but models do change thankfully.... so the model games begin... gee, and its been only one day since i've even thought of something shifting "left" or shifting "right"

my head still hurts from Dennis....
