Everyone else is being OT, so I guess I will too.... This year may actually provide a chance for the T-named storm to be retired (T is a girl this year...), and Terra (a good name for a hurricane, no?) to get in the rotations! This has been my dream since I was very young!

A friend of mine in CA says everyone thats everyone thats been in a hurricane should get a chance to have a storm named after them. (of course that IS ALOT of names!!!)
Question, on the TD 5 discussion is says "THERE IS A FAIR AMOUNT OF UNCERTAINTY IN THE LOCATION OF THE
CENTER...BUT MY BEST ESTIMATE IS THAT THE MOTION REMAINS 270/10."
What does the 270/10 mean? Than ks!

270 = a heading of 270 degrees or Due west. (heading is different than bearing. Bearing is the position of the object in relation to you)
10 = 10 knots per hour (I think it's knots, right?)

Well, here in Atlanta, definately on the lookout for an old man with a white beard with pairs of animals walking behind him down Peachtree St.
Almost 5" of rain have fallen here since yesterday afternoon and some pretty serious flooding in the Buckhead section of Atlanta as well as along the Chattahoochee as that river is expected to incur major flooding with it cresting 7-8' above flood stage this afternoon....
Sheesh and another system warming up in the Atlantic...I'll say it...Uncle!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to see that most regular posters are still here. Any word from "Rick on a Boat"?? It is not the most comfortable feeling to watch "Dennis" go through the gulf, and wake up hearing that at least one "TD5" and maybe 2 more CV style systems are headed across the Atlantic on JULY 11th. Correct me please if I am wrong, but isn't this awfully early for CV types??

The classic Cape Verde storm moves as an area of disturbed weather off of the coast of Africa, near the Cape Verde Islands. They traverse the entire width of the Atlantic Ocean, and compramise of some of the most infamous hurricanes in history. Hurricane Andrew, and hurricane were Cape Verde storms.

It wasn't as much fun as you might think, my name is . The need of every Tom, Dick and Harry to make the same banal jokes over and over and over made thoughts of being blown out to sea or impaled with a flying palm frond appetizing at times.
