Well Damn it all to hell!
      #53573 - Fri Sep 02 2005 04:18 PM

I'm just mad, upset, and about to blow!

Where do I turn? The RANT FORUM!

Spewing forth my drivel here, I'll enable the rest of the forum to remain uncluttered. I get to feel better about things and the community at large can choose to ignore my post without ignoring me as a person!

This rocks! No, wait - I'm upset, this SUCKS!!!11!!!

Someone's gotta do it, no?

It's just not the same when you're permitted to rant. You lose your edge when you're not posting in the weather only forum, risking deletion by pissing off the moderators.

DAMN THIS SUCKS!!!

"Damn this sucks"?!?!?

What the hell kind of rant is that? My goodness, they'll let anyone in here, won't they? I swear, the collective IQ of the rant forum just dropped 50 points!!!!

The plus side, is rather than worrying about editing posts in other threads, they should be able to just move them here and be done with them. Should make the database happier (less breaking), and the mods happier (less work).

Sounds win-win to me! And that makes me ANGRY! GRRRRRRR

Feel the hatred dripping from my words! Cower in fear from my wrath, for I am rant personified.

Nah, hopefully you realize that I was being completely facetious with any insults.

Even here, I imagine that if someone attacked another poster, they'd get banninated.

*grumble* in my rant forum, we'd just go and nuke them from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

So, there's pretzeldented bunnypants down south scoping out the damage. And at the same time long awaited aid flows into New Orleans. Consequence or happenstance? It took him 4 days to get there, and the aid 5 days. Too bad he didn't show up sooner, eh?

The troops should have been in New Orleans on day two. It almost seems as if b**h wanted to make people suffer a little more and things go to hell before help arrived. If that's the case, they succeeded.

Let this be a lesson to all: If you are in a hurricane zone, don't count on good federal aid unless you are a republican and your governor is also.

I have a feeling that b**h will wish he had moved a bit faster after this storm as he is forced to resign his stolen presidency in the near future.

Don't you think that by now VP Gore is saying to himself: Thank God I didnt win that time, Thank God I didnt win this time!
Look at all the trouble stealing the election caused....not that I think hurricanes don't hit democrat states however.... if memory serves, Wasn't that election the first time LA ever went Republican? And, if I am wrong please forgive me, I voted for Ralph Nader.

Good Grief Already!! Enough of blaming Bush! Your're probably of the mind-set that he seeded the darn thing! How many times does it have to be stated, "New Orleans was flooded more than 5' deep." You don't send the National Guard into situations like that until the logistics are worked out! Yes siree! He sure wanted to make people suffer. That is so inane! Grrr! I'm mad! Mad as h__l! There I've vented! Do I feel better? No! Because this poster and others will continue to throw barbs. No workable solutions...just play Monday Morning Quarterback!

Here is what is undefendable.

May Mayfield made it clear days ahead of landfall, that this storm would probably result in "heavy loss of life". In my years of following storms, I don't believe he has ever voiced as much concern as he did with this storm and where it was heading. As far as I can tell, he is highly respected and is not noted for over-hyping storms.

Would have it been asking to much for the president to cut his month long vacation early and head back to the White House and act like the leader he claims to be by ensuring that every damn relief and rescue agency was in place, ready to go. You can't tell me that wouldn't have a made a difference.

Do I think everything happening on the ground now is his fault. Absolutely not. Do I think he doesn't care about these mostley black, poverty stricken people. Absolutley not. I think he cares a lot.

Unlike any future terrorist acts, this type of disaster we knew was coming. He could have been back in Washington rattling cages and ramping up.

For those who blame the people for not leaving, because they had fair warning. Well, the President had the same warning.

Vacation president [Re: cjgsav]
      #53596 - Fri Sep 02 2005 06:21 PM

I won't bash anyone.

I will simply present the facts.

Not surprisingly, our good president apparently doesn't listen when FEMA raises alarms. Either that, or he is lying about this:

From CNN (yesterday):
The president defended the federal government's response so far to the growing crisis amid urgent pleas for help from stranded victims of the storm in New Orleans. He said the breach of the levees that led to the submerging of much of New Orleans had not been anticipated.

Um, well, we have some pretty contradictory evidence here:

(SNIP) So vulnerable, in fact, that earlier this year (2001) the Federal Emergency Management Agency ranked the potential damage to New Orleans as among the three likeliest, most castastrophic disasters facing this country. The other two? A massive earthquake in San Francisco, and, almost prophetically, a terrorist attack on New York City. The New Orleans hurricane scenario may be the deadliest of all.

http://www.hurricane.lsu.edu/_in_the_news/houston.htm

Our government is both asleep at the wheel, and culpable for this tragedy. And WE pay for their mistakes.

Those are the facts

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Bush did declare a State of Emergency BEFORE Katrina hit. It was the first time to do so. What more can one do? No one knew for sure where it was going to strike. So many in NO did not evacuate because they had dodged the "bullet" so many times before. They even stated they thought their city was "sainted". People forget that Bush can "dictate" from Crawford just as well as from the White House. Why does he have to be on the premises to be "a leader". Never before have we had such a disaster. Every relief agency was in place to go....they just couldn't go! Hello! Flooding! Armed thugs that should have been shot by the locals, etc.

Friend, at another website I frequent (not related to hurricanes - a financial website) there is a poster who is absolutely convinced that the Federal Government possesses the ability to control the weather and used this ability to "aim" Katrina at New Orleans! This poster/conspiracy theorist is convinced that the "Bush Oil Cartel" (his expression, not mine) did so to profit by the resulting damage and price spike in energy!

Best wishes to all.

Orchestrated Efforts? [Re: Anton Ross]
      #53602 - Fri Sep 02 2005 06:53 PM

I simply refuse to believe that Bush's face-time in the Big Easy and the arrival of troops and aid was NOT orchestrated in DC.

This is simply disgusting.

The timing is just TOO amazing.

That being said, NatGeog has an AMAZING piece on Katrina and NO here:

I happen to know my daughter was sent by military and was unable to actually go until the money was released by what ever authority does that. I am sure that if I start out with a file 17 pages long on a medicaid patient, that the Federal government requires a few pages of signatures on 10.8 Billion dollars to go into the hands of people who are supposed to be helping. I am reminded of the FEMA fiasco in Florida when Broward or Brevard or Dade County managed to get A million or so Federal dollars for Charley damage and the hurricane never went near them( don't remember the county name except that Charlie "weren't" there but they claimed and got a Million or so for it until some bookkeeper discovered the error. 10.8 Billion dollars has a lot of room for "I don't know where that million went" "it was in my back pocket a minute ago". "You mean it WAS SUPPOSED To GO TO VICTIMS?" Oh!,
I thought you were only saying that to keep things quiet"? " Ok, I see well I sure was looking forward to being the first 21st Century Mansion on the block" Geeze does that mean I will have to wait 6 more months for my Jacuzzi to be built?" I can hear it now to the tune of Moon over Miami.
