Area of Interest - East of Southern Windward Islands
      #54771 - Thu Sep 15 2005 02:54 PM

Large tropical wave well east of the southern Windward Islands continues to slowly develop with a possible evolving circulation near 9N 48W at 15/15Z. Wave is moving west at 12mph and an eventual movement to the west northwest and northwest is anticipated over the next few days. Strong shear projected just to the north of the system may be slightly overdone. Excellent convective envelope will continue to slowly organize over the next couple of days as the system moves to the west northwest and a more rapid development is possible over the weekend. This system has an excellent ppotential to become Philippe (pronounced without the 'e').
Cheers,
ED

Did hear an alarmist this AM indicate that 96L was going to cross South Fl and intensify in the GOM with a NE hook - - Then 95L continues to Intensify and heads WNW with an X effect on state of FL - - any thoughts - - SAY IT AIN'T SO

To quote GOMer Pyle, "GOLLY!" On the FSU site, 12Z GFDL has joined the 00Z UKMET and the 00Z CMC, and fed 95L a bunch of steroids (12Z CMC, however, shows more benign system as does 12Z GFS and 00Z NOGAPS). It'd be nice if 95L would begin a NW movement sooner rather than later. Don't like how the NHC potential development box for 95L continually keeps moving along a lower latitude.
Wow. Site thought I meant Gulf of Mexico when I typed "G o m e r" and thus capped the first three letters.

96L has not been officially recognized, and that's why you can't find it on the NRL site. Check the visible satellite of the Carib/West Atl--it's just NE of Puerto Rico.

A link to the models for 96L is on the home page of this site. Always watch the home page of flhurricane.com for these images (a clickable thumbnail), as we add them as soon as they are available.
