Major Hurricanes

Question: What is the record for the most major hurricanes in the Atlantic season?

Just came to my mind considering Beta may become the seasons 8th major hurricane.

Beta's only #7, but nevertheless #7 ties a record in our database with 1950, which also saw 7 majors (info from Chris Landsea's TC FAQ).

Thanks Clark. I had 7 originally but I guess in my tired state, I thought I saw another.

No worries -- so did the NHC! --Clark
