At 1:00 AM Eastern Time it appeared as if Okinawa had been in the eastern eyewall for at least four hours.

If you're viewing this within a few hours of my having submitted it then the following loop should enable you to see the eye's movement north just off the western side of the island.

You can click on the Stop button for the loop once or twice until it becomes the Start button and then click on the ">" forward button to view the loop's images one at a time.

Kadena Airbase, Okinawa, Japan, reported 25.50 inches of rain in the 24 hour period between 12/0800 (EDT) and 13/0800 (EDT). I don't know what the peak winds were (probably well over 100mph), but the weather equipment did not fail.
