I hate quotes like this from government officials:

Quote:

"There is absolutely no risk" since all security measures were taken at Laguna Verde, Mexico's only nuclear generator, said Laura Gurza, national civil protection director.

There is ALWAYS risk at a nuclear plant. Even on a bright sun shiny day with everything in order there is risk. Nuclear plants track risk on a continuing basis as conditions change. A storm coming in, shutting down the power grid in the area and forcing use of backup generators, definitely increases risk. Storm surge and heavy rain increase risk. I do believe that the plant was well designed and built, and the operators did a good job preparing their plant for the storm and minimizing risk to the reactor core. It's what they do.

Now to look out for and pray for Bermuda and to get help for the Karl victims...

With the 11AM Advisory the official forecast now takes the center of Igor directly over Bermuda, Tropical Storm force winds should arrive tonight, and upping to hurricane force tomorrow afternoon into the evening.

We'll be down for about 30 minutes between 3 and 4PM EDT today for a minor hardware replacement. During that time the site will be unavaiable and recording of the Bermuda radar will have a break of 2-3 images.

I've been to Bermuda...Where do these people evacuate to??? It's been many years ago and I remember most of the structures being well built, however I can't help but feel for everyone there. It appears that Igor has his eyes on Bermuda just as Felix did several years ago.

Looks like Bermuda has been blessed. The last radar presentation indicates that Igor has moved west of the predicted path and missed a direct hit on Bermuda.
