Area of Interest: Invest 97L

A modest tropical wave with some persistent convection is now being tracked as Invest 97L.

97L is presently located about 775 miles east of the Windward Islands, near 12N 48W, and looks to be moving west to west-northwest at about 15MPH.

It is expected that 97L will continue generally west to west-northwest over the next few days, and NHC gives it a 20% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within 48 hours. It has not been in an especially favorable region for development this week, but might encounter a somewhat better environment by Monday.

Great to have more data now. The wave has fought against negative conditions for a while now... made it pretty far west (further than most thought) with little model support and has slowly gained latitude.

Looking forward to seeing more information on it now that we have an Invest.

Early thought was it would simply go west into the Eastern Caribbean. I don't think so... as always time will tell.
