Tropical Wave near Hispaniola
      #93165 - Wed Aug 08 2012 10:14 AM

Any thoughts on the ULL and Tropical Wave interacting near Hispaniola?
The upper level winds are a little complex, in part due to TS Ernesto, but not totally hostile.

Maybe it is just some entertainment for today, and will wash out later.

It means lots of rain for the Greater Antilles in the immediate future. but that's about it.

You don't write off patterns.... there's a pattern going on here it's clear...

The wave before Ernesto followed the pattern... others will..

Remnants of Florence are not far behind the wave/ull trough... then 92... something so close in should be watched. A week or so ago a model spun up a storm in the Bahamas. Sometimes what the models hint at is more important than any one area... either way, interesting.

There is a stationary cluster of thunderstorms just S of the ULL in the Caribbean. It has been persistent for almost the last 24 hours. No current circulation though. Just something to watch since it's close to home.

The showers have persisted over south of Hispaniola for a while. It looks like SSTs are low in the area, is there upwelling going on?

Looks like it may be a wet weekend in Florida with all the energy streaming northward.

Upper level low south of western Cuba near 18N 85W at 11/13Z could eventually develop a surface reflection. Convection is increasing and SST is about 28C. System is currently drifting north or north northwest. Just another area to monitor.

There's a fierce looking little surface low visible on the latest loops just east of Isle of Youth heading north...
