Isaac Conditions in your Area
      #93546 - Fri Aug 24 2012 11:11 PM

This is the place to discuss what you see where you are, and conditions/closing/events in your area related to Isaac.

In Orlando, near Universal Studios, it's quiet tonight.

Miami, Earlier around 22:00 heavy squall with lots of wind and lighting, heavy rain, now drizzle and calm. Lots of lightning flashes to the south and east. I'm located about 3 miles west of downtown Miami.

A little weather blowing in right now. FPL power doing its usual quick blink with the power. Sure wasn't expecting rain so soon. NWS said "partly cloudy" for tonight. Is is the far reaches of Isaac already? Naw, it can't be. We're too far away, right?

If I am hold up in a hotel, I will do my best to provide updates from there..

Quite a squall just came in from the ocean. I'm inland 5 miles yet we've got thunder, heavy rain and a wind gust to 30mph.

Hey all.

My wife and 16 month old daughter are in Lake Mary.

I know the standard disclaimers, but they're due to return midday Monday... What are the odds of airport closures?

Right now it looks a little close for comfort (size of storm, strengthening likely, and track of storm).

Greetings from MD

Mid-day Monday could get dicey since Isaac will probably be southwest of Sanibel Island (off shore) at that time. NHC expects the storm to gain forward speed so my earlier thoughts on a Tuesday event for central Florida are likely to become a Monday event. Best to have them check with the airlines.

I am awaking this morning to see Isaac further north and looks to have moved more NNW for a time slipping through eastern portions of the passage. Getting a little concerned about south FL given it looks to take a track along the north coast of Cuba maybe just clipping northeastern portions before heading over water. Today should bring a better idea about Issac s track at least to respects of whether it moves into the Keys or clips across south FL. I still see no changes to my thinking of a track near Keywest then NNW from there up the west coast into the Big bend area. However seeing Issac has done well with its land interactions or lack there of it only ups the chances that this may very well be stronger then a Cat 1 in eastern Gulf.

walked my neighborhood which is adjacent to the Manatee river. High tide, but the river seemed very full and all the natural drainage streams that flow into it have water consistent with a recent hard rain...and no rain here in a couple of days. High tide (2.6') each of the next two days coincides with predicted passage of the storm, at hurricane strength, only 50 or so miles west...With the two most recent TS's to affect us we had a 3+ bubble of water back up the river and all drainage streams which caused sudden flooding. I fear it will be twice that bad and that an extra 5-7' of water suddenly backing up the river is a real threat here...also anticipating 10+ hours of gale conditions (intermittent) and 6-10" of rain...sounds like fun...

Be aware that a Blue Moon is this week. The second full moon this month is on the 31st.
Higher tides and possibly higher storm surges in the GOM.

An intense (if somewhat brief) squall just passed through Palm City (^20 miles north of Jupiter). Intermittent rain/breeziness overnight, but just now had 10 minutes of strong (35-45mph) winds, torrential downpour, lightning. the whole nine yards. It's still windy and wet out, but the line/band seems to have mostly gone through. Hardest rain since early yesterday AM.
