Typhoon Dolphin appears to be intensifying rather quickly tonight as it moves WNW toward Guam. A typhoon watch is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan. Dolphin is expected to pass very close to Guam in a little over 48 hours, around 15/09Z. The official forecast is for a 90-95 kt. typhoon as it passes Guam but given the current state of intensification that could be quite conservative.

The eye of Dolphin is clearly visible on Guam radar and it appears to be moving left of its projected track. The eye is about 100 miles east of Guam and appears to be headed almost due west. Looks like at least the northern part of Guam is going to see the eyewall over the next few hours. Andersen AFB has recently seen a 59 mph wind gust and the international airport has gusted to 51 mph.
