Forecasting the tropical wave
      #20421 - Mon Aug 16 2004 08:59 PM

What does anyone think will happen with the newly born tropical wave off the coast of Africa and say were you think it will go and were you think it could hit the U.S (hopefully not)

So far this Tropical wave is not very more than average; small area of deep convetion, not much organization but should bare watching because sometimes something that doesn't appear special ends up being just that and conditions appear favorable for some slow devlopment.

Tonight the tropical wave (220nm west of the Cape Verde Islands) appears well-defined on sat imagery and convection seems to be increasing. GFS seems to be taking this wave in the general direction of Florida we'll see tom. if it becomes a invest.

Tom. has come and still no invest from the NHC, now that this wave is moving out into direr air it will not have a chance devlopment unless it is sent into a different part of the tropics and surives. I've heard from over dissucions that a possible shorwave trough exists in that area, that would be the reason for the wave not devloping. We'll still have to see.

Now yet another tropical wave is coming off of the ITCZ, (surfs up), this one looks good but it's too early to say anything, although almost anything now a days (late August) can form hurricanes. As I usually say "we'll have to see."
