Text message weather alerts?
      #77516 - Mon Aug 27 2007 08:29 AM

I didn't know where else to put this, so it's here. I just got a Blackberry and finally entered the world of text messaging. I did manage (finally) to get signed up for the Weather Channel's online text message alerts. (Even worked yesterday, it went off when we had a severe t-storm warning.) I did finally (I think) manage to get signed up for the NHC tropical updates. (I couldn't use my BB address, I had to set up another address that I could manage off the BB because the BB wouldn't let me reply to confirm the subscription because of an address error.)

THAT all said -- are there any other reputable and reliable text message weather alert services I can sign up for? I went to one that the folks at Alltel recommended, but it looks like you get advertising too, and I don't want that.

I DO like that NWS has a cell page set up so I can log on with the BB browser and see the radar image. THAT is pretty neat. Now I don't need to haul my laptop with me (air card) if I want to keep track of my accounts or check in with the weather. (I make a lot of trips up to Tampa and back.)

Thanks!
