At my home in Gulfport, Florida we are having some decent rain bands come through. We are somewhat protected from the wind by trees, so our gusts have only been to about 13 mph or so. Even so, this type of wind and rain does have the feel of a Tropical Storm as opposed to our typical thunderstorms.

There was a 64 mph gust at Buoy 42013 Navy-2 this morning.

West Florida Central Buoy reporting 36 mph winds with 45 mph gusts. It had a peak gust of 49 mph earlier this morning.

Our Clearwater Beach Weather Station (Surfside Condos on Clearwater Beach) is reporting 21 mpg winds with 36 mph gusts.

Looks like we will be experiencing Tropical Storm force winds along the coast in Pinellas County today.

Right now just light rain.

I’m currently visiting my home town, Saint Cloud, which is having intermittent bands of rain. Also increased steady winds along with minor gusts. This storm will also affect where I reside, Long Beach, MS. I’m keeping a watchful eye, but not concerned as the storm surge warnings have been lifted.

Peak gust at Clearwater Beach was 44 mph. Now it is absolutely gorgeous in Pinellas County with a stiff breeze. It is very warm, mostly sunny, big surf (for the Gulf coast), and feels very nice to be outside.

Maybe our Memorial Day weekend will be OK!

Today wound up being dry only 1/10th of an inch here in Orlando, some points east got a lot more though. The dry air affecting Alberto halted most of it up here.
