I just wanted to post some information that I have been gathering since the TS Watch had been issued at 5pm, mostly relating to Polk County.
My son goes to year round school in Lakeland, and I called BayNews9 to ask them if schools would be closed tomorrow in Polk County. They told me that there aren't any schools in session. I then told them that yes, indeed, there were 2 year round schools that are still in session. They have no information about any closings for schools or anything else at this time. I am also in touch with The Ledger about this subject. I have made two contacts and am in the process of making more since most area schools are closed until August. Polk County is under an Inland Tropical Storm Watch + a Flood Watch. Since BayNews9 has been the only channel that seems to be giving us any information about this storm, many people may be unaware that a TS is even out there.
If I learn anything about the schools or anything else in Polk County, I will promptly post it here. As for sending my son to school tomorrow, I will make my own decision.
If anyone else has anything to add to this post related to closings, etc., please post it, but also make sure it is accurate.
Still waiting for more rain in Lakeland.
