In the latest edition of "Turn Back the Clock"... I remeber tracking a strom in 2001 Named Barry. Through the first 3 days of its life there were no thunderstorms at all. Everyone was saying, where was it...it's weakening, it's gone...and it was writtren off. Kinda like a couple of tonights comments. In the end, thunderstorms shot up, it developed a decent satellite representation and came into the panhandle as a 70MPH tropical storm. Point being, what it looks to be today, may not be what it is tomorrow. I don't think we will see great shakes out of this one, but don't get caught off guard by a surprise or two either. Best bet with any Tropical cyclone...track it till it is gone. Barry Map: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/tracks/2001atl.jpg P.S. It was an august event, so the climo will not truely match up w/ Alberto if your looking for track/intensity similarities folks.
