Quiet Time In The tropical Atlantic Basin Will Soon Come To An End! With 93L and other waves and areas of convection starting to fire; I'd say it looks as though are mid to late July season has arrived 2 to 4 weeks early. Obviously, all the environmental factors are not there yet, but enough are, to cause the season to begin to kick off.
Will we see a repeat of 2004 or 2005, nobody can say for sure! but to be real, most likely of that nature or worse. Will the many, many, many -------------------------------- storms hit Florida? Gulf States? Mid Atlantic? or the North East? Again we do not know! Is Florida sticking out there in the tropical Atlantic like a sore thumb? Yes! I think Florida, Texas, Louisianna, Missisippi, Alabama are all extremely vulnerable to be hit by these monster type storms that appear to be growing bigger and more powerful.
Being prepared in advance is the best advice anybody can give you. Have your window protection system, whether it be plywood, shutter panels etc. ready to go. If you need tapcons, get them now, believe me waiting for those until the storm is approaching is FOOLISH! You do not want to be at a drug store trying to buy any screw they have trying to use to hang plywood, I did it with Jeanne, and felt the part of a fool. I even saw people buying styrofoam sheets to cover windows once the plywood ran out.
Will a storm hit the U.S. in 2006, who knows? Will you be killed in an auto wreck, probably not, but you still buy life insurance. The odds of being killed in an auto wreck this year is less than 1/10 of 1%; the chance of a Hurricane landing in your backyard, if you live anywhere I mentioned above is probably 50%
It is interesting following storms, reading the posts, and all the stuff that has to do with tracking the tropics, now do the boring stuff, maybe this weekend, get your supplies in order, your plans set, and then if the storm approaches you'll be safer, and ready for whatever Mother Nature Spins Your way.
