Seriously, though... what causes an MCS? We get daily afternoon thunderstorms around here all the time this time of the year - the heat buildup would be even worse without the rain to cool it off - but it doesn't seem too common for something to just blossom seemingly out of nowhere (I remember someone saying after the nasty stuff Thursday I think it was, that they had not even seen rain in the forecast).
Cloud tops in the Gulf has diminished significantly, so hopefully this won't amount to anything, but it was freaky last night like pcola said.
