I wasn't surprised by the decrease in convection...San Juan yesterday noted a surge in the trades (just like they did before Claudette)--figured storm would pick up speed and convection would die out for a while. Stacy Stewart at the NHC in the Discusion also shed some light on this.
TWT---looks like it will make it past the surge and refire, BUT, as HF says, lets see what happens with the Caribbean trough.
