Steve--one other thing to note, then I'm off to bed--check out the water vapor loop when you get a chance. Notice that dry air is beginning to impinge on the system from the north. In the IR you posted, I notice that outflow is beginning to be restricted in the northern semi-circle.
What this means for development is beyond me, but it's interesting to note anyway.
