Another quiet period, this time of shorter duration, seems to be underway. The lead wave near 40W is not very impressive at the moment. The wave just exiting the African west coast (near 14N) has good structure but little else. Waves will need to get west of 55W before any significant development can occur. The ITCZ, except for the area south of the lead wave, is quiet. Africa, which looked very potent two days ago, now looks very quiet. Can't see any named activity before Friday.
The GFS seems to be suffering from Suggestive Activation Rotational Syndrome aka Seasonally Induced Depression Status. Probably caught it from the GFDL. I know that we have a nurse on site and was wondering if there is any known cure? Cheers,
ED
