Sustained winds I read were 124 km/h (77 mph) - which would have made it a Category 1 hurricane still at that point. 45�20' (where it was officially downgraded to a tropical storm - finally!) would be about 120 miles north of Toronto in the Muskoka region.

There were Category 2 hurricane conditions as far north as western New York...
