Area of Interest - Hurricane Ana Heads Toward Hawaii
      Wed Oct 15 2014 01:34 AM

TS Ana, currently about 750 miles east southeast of Hilo at 15/05Z, is expected to intensify to hurricane strength today. Chances are increasing that Ana will pass just off South Point, Hawaii, early Saturday morning as a 90mph hurricane and just off Ewa Beach, Oahu, around Noon on Sunday as a 75mph hurricane. This would mean hurricane force winds on the southern portions of the Big Isle and on Oahu along the south shore from Diamond Head to Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Ala Moana, Honolulu and Ewa Beach - with tropical storm force winds over the remainder of the island chain. Its still a long way out but right now I don't see much that would change that track forecast.
Residents and visitors in Hawaii need to closely monitor and prepare for what could become a significant threat from this tropical cyclone.
