SUMMARY OF 1000 PM CDT...0300 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- LOCATION...34.0N 87.1W ABOUT 60 MI...100 KM NNE OF TUSCALOOSA ALABAMA ABOUT 40 MI...60 KM NNW OF BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...25 MPH...35 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...NE OR 40 DEGREES AT 12 MPH...19 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1008 MB...29.77 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- A Flash Flood Watch is currently in effect across southern Middle Tennessee. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1000 PM CDT (0300 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Beta was located near latitude 34.0 North, longitude 87.1 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the northeast near 12 mph (19 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue through Friday. Maximum sustained winds are near 25 mph (35 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued slow weakening is forecast before weakening into the frontal zone later Friday The estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 mb (29.77 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- Rainfall: Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected through Friday from the upper Tennessee Valley, across the Southern Appalachians and into the remainder of the Carolinas.
