DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Twelve was located near latitude 17.6 North, longitude 29.3 West. The depression is moving toward the west near 16 mph (26 km/h). A westward motion at a slightly slower forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. On the forecast track, the center of the depression will continue to move away from the Cabo Verde Islands. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1009 mb (29.80 inches).
