DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Karl was located near latitude 18.3 North, longitude 46.3 West. Karl is moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h). A turn to the west-northwest is expected by late Monday. Maximum sustained winds remain near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Karl is forecast to begin strengthening on Monday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km) north of the center.
