DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Subtropical Depression One
was located near latitude 34.4 North, longitude 39.3 West. The
depression is moving toward the north near 14 mph (22 km/h). A turn
toward the northwest is expected later today, followed by a motion
toward the west-northwest by tonight and on Friday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts.
Little change in strength is forecast, and the subtropical
depression is expected to be absorbed by an extratropical low in a
day or so.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 996 mb (29.42 inches).
