DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Gabrielle was located near latitude 29.3 North, longitude 40.9 West. Gabrielle is moving toward the northwest near 18 mph (30 km/h). A turn to the west-northwest is expected on Saturday. A turn to the north is then forecast on Sunday, followed by a turn to the northeast with an increase in forward speed on Monday. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Steady strengthening is forecast and Gabrielle is expected to become a hurricane by Sunday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles (335 km) from the center.
