first of all my apologies go out to john and mike for what i am about to say.i think you guys have a fantastic web site.i have been reading the postings all day long and i can't stand it any longer.do you people actually believe that there is some sort of conspiracy by the NHC to keep everyone in the dark on these storms? or better yet do you actually think in your limited amount of knowledge that you really know more than they do?the last thing that the NHC has time to do is read the postings on this site from you people and than make a call on what a storm is going to do as the letter above me implied.what does the NHC have to gain by keeping everyone in the dark? please someone give me one answer that makes any resemblance of sense. they are not the bumbling idiots that you guys are trying to make them out to be!i realize that this site is an open forum and most people enjoy tracking these storms and i respect that.you are entitled to your opinions but i have yet to see anyone display enough knowledge in this area for me to take your word over the hurricane center, john hope ,or dr. steve lyons who you also seem to enjoy trashing.i'll admit you you probably know more than the local news people who only want to whip people up into a frenzy so that they can have a big story.enjoy yourselves while you track these storms but use your heads a little when you start discrediting what these guys are doing because the bottom line is they know more than you do!by the way all of you know more than me,ok?...so don't start attacking me...just think about what i said.thanks

Tommy you are right we are not here to bash the National Hurricane Center. Although this is America and anyone can say what they feel. That is what so great about this country. You have your opinion Colleen has hers. This what makes this site and others so unique. Thank you and all the rest of you for your comments and making this site so popular.

... I could not have said it better myself (and now I don't have to). I can understand a difference of opinion, but I don't understand the personal attacks on individuals, particulary when the attackers are amateurs and the ones being attacked are professionals.

Folks the bashing of the NHC is getting out of control,,,,,just to make 2 comments here,,,,1. some of us on here are meteorologists,,,,and 2. The attitude towards the NHC had to do with the intrest of the people. The NHC is to aware and protect us from a aproaching Hurricane.,..and even though it was 5 mph less then hurricane strength,,impact is less than 1 day away and is expected to be near 100mph by noon sunday. The NHC needs to give people a 24-36hr advanced notice,,and now they have,,.So the point was that and if it was 70mph at the time, then just add on 5mph to get people ready,,,,they are here to aware and protect the public,,we all are,,like this site. Thank you ....scottsvb

NHC's Track (#11)

The problem I have with the NHC's forecast is that they haven't been right yet on this storm. Still, I know this is not an exact science and models are prone to mistakes.
The main reason that I am disgruntled with the NHC is that they have not fully explained why they think it will break through the cold front and not follow the water vapor trail.
They said there is a troff (sic) in the gulf of mexico and a ridge to its SE. Where exactly is this trough? Why do they think the cold front is going to break down?
I just don't understand. However, I also saw the latest sat. loops that look like the storm took a NW jog.
