Tropical Storm Estelle in eastern Pacific beginning to impact Socorro Island

Tropical Storm Estelle in the eastern Pacific is beginning to impact Socorro Island. No rain falling on the island yet but windspeeds have been steadily climbing and are currently at 19.5 knots. The center of Estelle is expected to pass a little south of the island which is home to a Mexican naval station with a population of 250.

AT 800 PM PDT...0300 UTC...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM ESTELLE WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 17.3 NORTH...LONGITUDE 109.4 WEST. ESTELLE IS
MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 8 MPH...13 KM/HR...AND THIS GENERAL
MOTION...WITH A CONTINUED GRADUAL DECREASE IN FORWARD SPEED...IS
EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 65 MPH...100 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT AND SUNDAY...WITH A
GRADUAL WEAKENING FORECAST THEREAFTER.

TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 85 MILES...140 KM
FROM THE CENTER.

ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 994 MB...29.35 INCHES.
