Keith, Haven't you ever heard the poem, "'Twas the night before Christmas"? after which the above poem is based? You know..."'Twas the night before Christmas And all thru the house Not a creature was stirring... Not even a mouse... (etc.) I'm not entirely certain if it was ever set to music, but it could easily be...granted, it may not be perfect iambic pentameter, but it has rhythm & beat... The children were nestled all snug in their beds While visions of sugarplums danced thru their heads And ma in her kerchief And I in my cap Had just settled down For a long winters' nap... All y'all know the rest Believe it was written by Henry Livingstone sometime around the turn of the 19th (1800s) century... |
