Actually, a volcanic eruption, just like a hurricane or earthquake is a natural disaster, and is "weather" related. The post is fine in this forum. For those of us alive in 1980 when she blew her top, ash and other volcanic material traveled as far east as the mississippi river, and was particularly bad for Washington State. I remember seeing pictures of cars covered 3' deep in ash in some cases. Lets hope she only lets off some steam this time, and does not produce a full bore explosion. Also, if memory (what little I have left) serves, there was a man who lived in Mt. St. Helens' shadow, named George Washington of all things, who refused to evacuate when he was warned and of course, he perished. Man, that brings back some memories... |
