Re: NINE Forecast Lounge

The 1700 ET NHS products are out with little change in intensity and strength forecast. The time line is a little slower indicating that the center will be about 100–150 miles due west of Sarasota at 2 PM on Thursday at Cat 3 intensity. St. Marks remans near the center of the projected track for landfall Thursday evening. As Helene is expected to be a large storm, the impacts are going to be widespread along the west Gulf coast of Florida. The area of expected landfall is sparsely populated, if that is any consolation. St Marks is several miles upriver from the coast. Wind damage in that area will be devastating however.
