Typhoon Jangmi, which formed on Tuesday about midway between Guam and Palau, has moved generally in a NW direction and was recently upgraded to supertyphoon status, in a position near 20/127, or about 485 miles SE of Taipei. It is very impressive on satellite with a ring of very cold cloud tops surrounding a 30 mile wide eye. The current movement would take it just north of Taiwan - however, the forecast is for the storm to bend to the left and cross the middle of Taiwan in about 48 hours. Certainly a system to watch over the weekend. |
