Fay dropped an astounding 12 inches of rain in some places in Port Saint Lucie. In fact US Federal Highway 1 was shut down at many key interesections due to flooding. Many houses in developments east of US1 could not get access to the outside world. The rainfall was the worst since the founding of this fair city in the early 1960s.
