Re: Preparations, Closings and Conditions in Your Area

Here in Northern Duval/Southern Nassau rain has been light all day with a few bands of heavier rain throughout the day. Breezy with stronger gusts but not bad yet. About an hour ago they announced on the TV that bad weather was just beginning to reach Jacksonville........and then the power went out. Parts of Yulee and Fernandina began losing power last night. Last I checked we had 4 generators left at our store in Fernandina and customers told me that they had checked Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart and ACE in Jax and all were sold out. D size batteries are becoming scarce as well. A tip for anyone without power, if you haven't been able to get a generator try getting a power inverter that hooks up to your cigarette lighter in your car. While it can't run as much as a generator will you can hook up a TV, radio, fan, and light (depending on the size of the inverter) and they run between $30 and $150. You can find them at most hardware stores (Lowe's Home Depot, ACE) as well as Walmart, Gander Mountain and most marine and/or Hunting/Camping supply stores. You might even try large retail chains such as Sears, Kmart etc.
Hope this helps!
