Here in Lafayette, La we have been experiencing winds of about 17 mph with gusts of about 24 mph but it seems to be picking up somewhat with periods of hard rain due to outer rainbands. Later this evening, we are supposed to have tropical storm winds which can be a problem because trees that have been comprimised with Hurricane Gustav have a good chance of coming down with tropical storm winds. Not to mention, the ground is still wet from the rain from Gustav. We are under a Flash Flood watch until Sunday. The Vermillion River is already extremely high so, no doubt, homes living along the river will be at risk for flooding. |
