Colin regenerated back to tropical storm status earlier today and he is currently located about 425 miles south southwest of Bermuda wobbling to the northwest at 10 knots with maximum sustained winds of 50 knots. An upper level low is located well to the west of Colin and it is creating strong southwesterly windshear over the cyclone and displacing most of the convection to the northeast of the storm center. This shear should keep the system in check on Friday (and even a little weakening would not surprise me). By Friday evening this windshear is expected to relax enough to provide Colin with atmospheric conditions more favorable for additional intensification. By Saturday evening Colin should be a strong 60 knot storm passing 75 to 100 miles to the west of Bermuda. Tropical storm conditions are forecast for Bermuda - most likely from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning if the system survives the shear. Tropical Storm Warnings are up for the island. ED |
