Re: Area of Interest: Tropical Storm Ernesto

TS Ernesto continues to weaken and it appears that southwesterly wind shear has decoupled the system. This shear should decline in intensity, but the ridge to the north will continue to guide Ernesto to the west. Current westward speed is 19 knots but this forward motion should slow down on Monday and Tuesday. Ernesto should pass just offshore the north coast of Honduras with landfall likely in northern Belize late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. Weakening shear will allow for some strengthening prior to landfall if the structure of the storm can reorganize.
