Thanks Colleen -- yes, the slower movement would tend to lead towards a greater chance of restrengthening. It would allow greater time for the storm to spin-up, despite the impacts of land. Were it moving faster, it'd hit land faster and lack that time to spin-up at all. On the flip side however, the slower it moves, the more it will weaken over land, while a faster-moving storm is going to weaken less over land. This works pretty much for the reverse reasons as the over-water scenario. |
