I remember some things from last year that could be indicators of an active Atlantic season. One was the unusually quiet Eastern Pacific, the other was Western Pacific typhoons seemed to target Japan more than the usually do. So if they EPAC is quieter than normal, we will probably see this active trend continue.

We did beat the EPAC last year for named storms as well.
