Someone posted this earlier, but I'll repeat it.
Long Range Radar has it's benefits.
But at 256nm you are looking Way up into the storm.

Using a 0.5 deg elavation(standard elevation).
At 256miles has a Top Height of 28100ft.
And a Bottom Height of 14500ft.

Normal Range 125miles:
Has A Top Height of 24200ft.
And A Bottom Height of 11800 ft.

You will still get some idea of what is taking place but if the Radar were moved closer to the storm it would look much different.
